Recommend ECOSTT

Tournament Rules

  1. The Tournament Manager (TM) and floor people are to consider the best interests of the game and fairness as the top priority in the decision–making process. Unusual circumstances can, on occasion, dictate that decisions in the interest of fairness take priority over the technical rules. The Tournament Manager’s decision is final in conjunction with the Microgaming team, if necessary.
  2. Seating assignments – all seating will be determined by a random draw in advance of the start of each Tournament. For each Round of the ECOSTT, seating will be on 9 or 10 seater tables via random draw.
  3. Dealer button – a draw for the dealer button will be held at the beginning of each round of the tournament and also at the final tables.
  4. Players may not ask for deck changes.
  5. At the beginning of each STT round, the Super Eliminator, and Side Events, each player will be allocated a seat and same amount of starting chips, which bears no relation to the buy–in. The appropriate starting amount of chips will be placed on the table for each entrant at the beginning of the event, whether the person is present or not. Absent players will be dealt in, and all chips necessary for blinds will be put into the pot.
  6. At the beginning of the ECOSTT Main Event Final, the 20 players will be allocated a seat and different amount of starting chips, which bears no relation to the buy-in. The appropriate starting amount of chips will be placed on the table for each entrant at the beginning of the event, whether the person is present or not. Absent players will be dealt in, and all chips necessary for blinds will be put into the pot.
  7. Absent players – if a player fails to turn up for any of the ECOSTT tournaments, they will be dealt in, all chips necessary for blinds will be put into the pot.
  8. Absent players – during any of the ECOSTT tournaments, if a player has not made it to his/her seat by the end of level 2, and before blind level 3 commences, he or she will be a considered ‘no show’ and their chips will be removed from the table.
  9. Absent players – in addition, for each Round of the ECOSTT, if a player has not made it to his/her seat by the end of level 2, and before blind level 3 commences, he or she will be a considered a ‘no show’ and their chips will be removed from the table. The number of chips removed from the table will be noted by the dealer on the players’ score card. The player will be considered to have finished in last place and will score 0 points.
  10. Absent players – for each Round of the ECOSTT, if, for any reason, there are multiple no shows by the end of level 2, and before level 3 commences, they will all be considered to have finished in last place and score 0 points. Tables may be re-balanced should there be multiple no shows on the same table.
  11. All chips must be visibly displayed at all times. A player’s highest denomination chips cannot be ‘hidden’ and must be visible at all times. All players should be encouraged to stack their chips in an orderly fashion so that they are visible to all other players.
  12. Chips – players may not have tournament chips in their pockets at any time. A player who has chips in his/her pocket will forfeit the chips and will be disqualified from the ECOSTT Tournament. The forfeited chips will be taken out of play from the tournament.
  13. When it is time to colour–up chips they will be raced off with a maximum of one chip going to any player. The chip race will always start in the No.1 seat. A player cannot be raced out of a tournament: a player who loses his or her remaining chip(s) in a chip race will be given one chip of the smallest denomination still in play. Players are encouraged to witness the chip race.
  14. The odd chip(s) will go to the high hand. In flop games when there are two or more high hands the odd chip(s) will go to the left of the button.
  15. Each side pot will be split separately.
  16. Slow play/clock – any player can call for a clock after 1 minute – this is allowed to speed up the game. Once a clock is called for, a player will be given a maximum of 30 seconds to make a decision. If action has not been taken before the time expires, there will be a 10–second countdown. If a player has not acted by the time the countdown is over, the player’s hand will be dead. This rule is applicable to all of the ECOSTT tournaments.
  17. Tournament play will use a dead button for all ECOSTT tournaments. At the beginning of each Single Table Tournament (STT) round and on the final day, a draw for the button will be held on each table.
  18. Players must be in their seat when the dealer finishes the deal. If the player is not in their seat then the dealer will muck their hand immediately.
  19. All betting will be in a clockwise order and must be in turn.
  20. Betting – over–blinds (straddles) are not permitted in tournament play.
  21. Betting – under–raises are only permitted if a player is going “all–in”. Less than a full raise does not re–open the betting to a player who has already acted.
  22. String raises will not be allowed. Dealers will be responsible for calling string raises. Betting and raising must be done in one clean motion or risk being ruled as a string bet.
  23. A player must show both cards when playing the board in order to get part of the pot.
  24. Verbal declarations in turn are binding. Action out of turn may be binding:
    1. If a player bets, raises or calls out of turn the bet stands.
    2. If the player who should have acted first chooses to bet more than the out–of–turn bet, the player who acted out of turn can either make up the difference to call, or take back his bet and fold, or re–raise.
  25. A penalty MAY be invoked if a player exposes any card with action pending, throws a card off the table, violates the one–player–to–a–hand rule, or similar incidents take place. Penalties WILL be invoked in cases of soft play, abuse, or disruptive behaviour. Penalties available to the Tournament Manager include verbal warnings and ‘missed hand’ penalties.
  26. A missed hand penalty will be assessed as follows: The offender will miss one hand for every player, including the offender, who is at the table when the penalty is given multiplied by the number of rounds specified in the penalty; for the period of the penalty the offender shall remain away from the table. Tournament staff can assess one–, two–, three–, or four–round penalties or disqualification. A player who is disqualified shall have his or her chips removed from play. Repeat infractions are subject to escalating penalties. A severe infraction of the rules may result in a player being eliminated from any of the ECOSTT tournaments. In this instance the player will not be entitled to any prize money.
  27. Players who are not in the hand may not discuss the hand in play until all action is completed. Discussing cards discarded is not allowed.
  28. No player will be allowed to expose his or her cards during a hand.
  29. It is a player’s responsibility to protect their own cards at all times. If a dealer kills an unprotected hand, the player will have no redress and will not be entitled to his money back. An exception would be if a player raised and his/her raise had not been called yet, s/he would be entitled to receive his/her raise back.
  30. Dealers cannot kill a winning hand that was turned face up and was obviously the winning hand.
  31. All cards will be turned face up once a player is all–in and all betting action is complete.
  32. If a player puts in a raise of 50% or more of the previous bet but less than the minimum raise, he or she will be required to make a full raise. The raise will be exactly the minimum raise allowed.
  33. A single oversized chip will be considered a call if the player does not announce a raise. If a player puts an oversized chip into the pot and states raise but does not state the amount, the raise will be the maximum allowable up to the size of that chip. After the flop, an initial bet of a single oversized chip without comment will constitute the size of the bet. To make a raise with a single oversized chip a verbal declaration must be made before the chip hits the table surface.
  34. Players are obligated to protect the other players in the tournament at all times. Therefore, players, whether in the hand or not, may not:
    – Disclose contents of live or folded hands
    – Advise or criticize play before the action is complete
    – Read a hand that hasn’t been tabled.
  35. Soft playing/chip dumping – it is the dealers’ responsibility to highlight to the Tournament Manager if they are suspicious that any players are soft playing or chip dumping. This is particularly important during Rounds 3 & 4 of the ECOSTT Main Event, and the Super Eliminator, and action will need to be taken. Penalties may include forfeiture of chips and/or disqualification from the Round/Tournament, depending on the situation.
  36. Soft playing/chip dumping – any players involved in such activities will be warned, and can be disqualified at the discretion of the Tournament Manager in association with the Microgaming team. It should be noted that a number of players know each other and have friends playing, and any suspicious activities should be highlighted to the Tournament Manager.
  37. The English language will be used throughout the ECOSTT tournaments.
  38. A player may not use a mobile phone, text–messaging device, a laptop, or other communication device at the table.
  39. Deck changes will be on the dealer push or level changes or as prescribed by the house. Decks will be changed if there is a damaged card.
  40. When time has elapsed in a round and a new level is announced by a member of the tournament staff, the new level applies to the next hand. A hand begins with the first riffle. Blinds will be raised at regularly scheduled intervals.
  41. A player may not miss a hand.
  42. Verbal declarations as to the content of a player’s hand are not binding; however, any player deliberately miscalling his or her hand may be penalised.
  43. No rabbit hunting is allowed.
  44. A player who intentionally dodges (a) blind(s) when moving from a broken table will incur a penalty.
  45. Players going from a broken table to fill in seats assume the rights and responsibilities of the position. They can get the big blind, the small blind, or the button. The only place they cannot get a hand is between the small blind and the button.
  46. When balancing tables during the side event, players will be moved from the big blind to the worst position (which is never the small blind). The table from which a player is moved will be as specified by a predetermined procedure. Play will halt on any table that is three or more players short.
  47. There is no cap on the number of raises in no–limit games. A raise must be at least the size of the previous raise.
  48. When heads–up, the small blind is on the button and acts first. When beginning heads–up play, the button may need to be adjusted to ensure that no player takes the big blind twice in a row.
  49. Repeated etiquette violations will result in penalties. Examples include unnecessarily touching other players cards or chips, delay of the game, and excessive chatter. Players are required to act in turn.
  50. At the end of the last round of betting, the player who made the last aggressive action in that betting round must show first. If there was no bet the player to the left of the button shows first and so on clockwise.
  51. Players must remain at the table if they still have action pending on a hand.
  52. Logos – players are allowed to wear company logos/branding on their clothing providing that they relate to Microgaming Poker Network sites only.
  53. Publicity – any player taking part in the tournament agrees to carry out any reasonable request by Microgaming during the event to assist in publicising the event. Players agree that their real name, alias and images can be used for promotional purposes including use on the ECOSTT website. Photographs will be taken by Microgaming during the ECOSTT live event.
  54. Microgaming management reserves the right to deny entry to any ECOSTT tournaments and/or remove a player or disqualify a player from the tournaments and any decisions taken by management in this regard are final.
  55. All players must be at least 18 years or older to play in the ECOSTT. The minimum age is 25 years old for Maltese citizens.
  56. Microgaming shall in no way be liable for any injuries, losses, damages or expenses suffered or incurred by any winner of a Package as a direct or indirect result of accepting the Package and participating in the ECOSTT.
